Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

"I never try anything. I just do it."
*Varla aka Tura Satana from Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

My tribute piece for the Tura Satana show September 15th at the M Modern Gallery in Palm Springs, CA. To do this piece has been a long time coming.  I just needed a reason to do it.

I first heard of Tura and the Faster Pussycat! movie about thirteen years ago after a co-worker saw how I had an interest in pin-up. He mentioned the movie to me, asking me if I've ever seen it? (  I hadn't )  it wasn't until years later a bootleg copy of the movie ( before it was available on dvd ) was purchased and a love for Tura was born.

Check out the list of contributing artists and the show. It looks like it's going to be a blast.

Moonlighting Zombie!

Well not quite together like the title suggests ;) Here's a few commissions I did recently. Zombies and pinups, what more can you ask for??

This one is a long overdue commission for a fella. Felt like kicking it old school with the theme on this one.  With the whole outbreak of zombies being super popular, I feel a lot of current shows or movies are slowly moving away from original plot of the undead.  They love to eat BRAINS!

Apologies for the watermarks. As of late, every zombie art related piece I post gets swiped and somehow manages to appear in pins, necklaces, bracelets, and  god knows what else on Ebay and Etsy.  So I have to put my "mark" on my work so to speak. ;)

Remember Moonlighting? I sure do. How can you forget Maddie Hayes with the power 80’s shoulders, the Breck hair, and the fabulous lilac, peach, and pink power suits/ dresses she used to adorn? She was the quintessential woman during that era, cracking crimes while looking in Vogue and bad ass in her mauve lipstick.  I don’t care what you say, she rocked.

This time around I decided to show my in progress steps. From the pencils, to inks, to final colors. I love seeing in progress steps from my favorite artists.  Figured I would do the same.

New Commissions...

Catching up on some commission work as of late. Here's a few that I've done as of late. Looking to post more soon.  Getting ready for Baltimore, it's only a mere three weeks away!! I'm so unprepared for this time around. Looking to have a few new more sketchbooks and perhaps some stickers. We shall see ;)

Custom Munny show at Jinxed!

The custom Munny show at Jinxed in Philadelphia was last night. It was pretty awesome seeing what all the other artists came up with on customizing their Munny. Really got the wheels turning in my head creative wise on what to do for future customs I may create. I have a blank mini Trikky that I purchased over a year ago that I’ve been wanting to customize for months now. I think it would be pretty cool to do one of my favorite comic book characters, a Barbara Gordon Batgirl! I’m already envisioning the type of pearlescent purple paint I’m going to throw down on her…
Anyhow I thought it would be cool to show some in progress steps I took that involved making the sugar sweet yet disturbing Munny I made. This is probably the fourth blank I ever painted, and first time customizing it.  I decided to try my hand at some Super Sculpty.  I applied the Sculpty on the hair, mouth, and buckles.  It’s my first time using the stuff and already see where I can improve ( not enough smoothing! ) but think I didn’t do bad for my first try. ;)
