Sketchbooks and Other News!

The two new sketchbooks "Kick Ass Women" and "Hesse-O-Rama"  are officially in the Hesse-Art.Com shop!  To purchase one or to check it out, go to http://www.hesse-art.com/shop-sketchbook.html

Also, I'm in the midst of a HUGE "Sale" update! ( In case you wanted to wait ) I went through my merch and realized I have over 25 different prints in inventory! Some of the prints are my older works from back in 2005-2009 (Yes I've been doing pin-ups that long!) and didn't realize I still had that many until I discovered them going through my archival boxes. So what does this mean you may ask? It means all this stuff has to GO. That means I'm going to let this stuff go for cheap! Prints for $5 and $10!

Besides the prints, I'm going to put up all the original art that I have left from Baltimore Comic Con.  Fan art, zombie sketches, you name it- it's going up!  To make the sale even more fun since Halloween is around the corner, I'm thinking of having some sort of free gift thrown in with a minimum  purchase. In addition to the prints I came across, I have a ton of "Frankie Baby" tshirts I found in storage! It's the perfect tshirt for Halloween!

So sometime this week I'll be posting news when the sale is going live! Stay tuned

p.s. I may even have a sale on sketch cards too!

Sketchbooks!

Keep your eyes peeled! Sometime very soon (this weekend) I’ll be updating the shop with new merchandise I had exclusively made up for the Baltimore Comic con, sketchbooks!

The first sketchbook “Kick-Ass Women” is filled (that’s right I said KICK-ASS) with traditional medium fan art, 20 pages and glorious fan-freaking-tastic FULL color. The quality is pretty sweet, a definite step up from my other sketchbooks. This one has glossy/satin paper and did I happen to mention FULL COLOR?

The other, “HESSE-O-RAMA” is a collection of my men magazine inspired retro toons in a small collected edition. Grey toned traditional art, 12 pages with all the funny, witty anecdotes included. See my one liners in action in this lil’ collection!

Going to Nycc? I don’t have a table but I will be at the show. If you’re interested in picking up one (or both!) of these or anything else you see in my shop http://www.hesse-art.com/shop.html email me or message me here if you’re interested and I’ll see what I can do!

Things that go on in my head

Some things I'm working on lately....In progress shot on a new pinup, giving a bit of insight on how I work. ( Digitally paint ) I like to make a little palette off to the side of the art so I can keep sampling it. Once the colors are all blocked in, I delete the palette, then sample the colors within the art and start tightening up the color transitions/details. Right now I'm still in the" blocking in stage".

Focusing on knocking out some art pieces out this year (and the next ) one of my goals is to put out that pinup book I've been talking about doing these past few years.

Rough sketch, still working out the little details.  One thing I've noticed in my sketches over the years is my work is less"tight". I used to toil, hem and haw over every little line to be "perfect" in the sketch phase. I've come to discover that was only hurting my creative process (and pointed out by others) and that all these other little ideas that were waiting to pop out, may of been forgotten or lost because I was so focused on that one little pencil line.

Keep in mind this is how I work and this doesn't apply to everyone. I've seen other artist's work and they pump out amazing work, the art is very clean in the sketch phase. This is my madness, my best way of working for me.  Thought I'd share my input because it's ok to let go and be a messy, sketchy artist. Whatever works for you. After all there's no set rules in art!

Baltimore Comic Con 2012!

Baltimore Comic Con is this weekend, September 8th and 9th. I'll be in Artist Alley at table A106. This year I'm having a HUGE (prices so low it's scandalous!original art sale! Normally I would just bring one portfolio, but this year I'll be bringing three portfolios chock-full of original art that's dying to be put into someone's little hot hands and given a home! What kind of original art did you say? One portfolio is filled with nothing but zombie sketches. These sketches are all from the "Zombie A Day" personal project/blog I had going on a few years ago. The other portfolios? Filled with other original art, pinups, and sketch cards. Speaking of sketch cards, I will have my artist exclusive Sheena, Josie &  the Pussycats, and Katie Cook's Kitty Ditties with me ready to be sketched up!

In addition to original art, I will also have new sketchbooks, prints and other goodies that I will have at the show. I'm super excited to see you all. Stop by and say hi!
